Exercise impacts endothelial lining of the gut

A meta-analysis of 34 studies that looked at urine and plasma biomarkers for gut cell damage and permeability were reviewed. It was concluded that a single bout of exercise triggered gut cell damage and exercise carried out in hot conditions had the greatest impact on gut cell damage and permeability. However, duration of exercise played no significant role in the outcome of gut health. Pre and post exercise nutritional strategies are to be explored to best support gut health and nutrient absorption.
