Strategies for modulating the gut microbiota through diet and probiotics
An overview of clinical trials found some significant results in the application of probiotic supplementation in a variety of conditions of the gut, physiological systems and cardiovascular health. They conclude that ‘Given the variation in the gut microbiota between people, the optimal diet of a person may need to be tailored to their gut microbiota.’ And that ‘We are entering an era where we can increasingly modify health through food and measure the effects through our microbes or metabolites.
