Gut microbes influence hormone activity

This literature review summarises the links between the endocrine system and the gut microbiota. Interactions are categorized by the different functions of hormones. They conclude that hormones regulated by the microbiota span all functional classes and exert broad influences on host behaviour, metabolism and appetite, growth, reproduction and immunity.
