What is World Bi-Polar day?
Today is World Bi-Polar Day and we wanted to show our support by helping to disseminate information about this condition and support the fight against the stigma of mental health.
Bipolar disorder is a serious mental illness that affects more than 1 million people in the UK. It is characterised by significant mood swings that include manic highs and depressive lows and affects men and women of all ages.
There are a number of different drugs used to treat bipolar and anybody who suspects they may be suffering should speak with their doctor as soon as possible.
Food supplements form part of the list of options and the links identified between the gut and the brain suggest that supporting our digestive system may help to support our brain function.
As research and our understanding of the function of the brain and the body increase, we hope that we will start to understand more about the reasons behind the development of bipolar and what can be done to support those experiencing it.
In the meantime, we wanted to add our voice to the conversation.
